Joy's Family Visit in Manduriao and Molo - 2008

VISIT TO MANDURIAO AND MOLO, ILOILO CITY

The Family of Neng Joy visited Manduriao by first dropping at the Forest Lake Cemetery to visit the grave of Tita Milagros Rojo who died last December 2007 at the age of 85.We went to the place at around 3P.M. right after having a luncheon engagement in San Miguel at the house of Arlan Gorriceta.

Neng Julie Joy, Joche, Dr. Jin Lee, Jed, Jayne, Lot-Lot, Diday and Sheila. We were able to locate the grave of Tita Milagros with the help of Sheila. Notice the flowers in the glass. This was placed by William Rojo, the eldest child of Tita Milagros, a day before.

This time the picture depicts Michael Siscar. Sheila took the picture. It has been the pledge of Michael to visit the grave of Tita Milagros once he comes to Iloilo, for he was not able to attend the wake and the burial.

After visiting the grave of our aunt at Forest Lake, Manduriao, we dropped at the residence of Lola Adela Divinagracia. At the bedside of Lola Adela Devinagracia. From left: Jed, Joy, Joche, Jayne and Diday. It was also a pledge to come and see Lolo Adela. Last time she was awake. The second time she was asleep. The third time, this time, she was still asleep, but I have to ask her excuses in order to see her once more. She responded for my presence. But she cannot remember my name anymore.

After visiting Lola Adela, we proceeded to the house of Tita Milagros which is just very near from Lola Adela's residence. We wish to meet our cousins there. Luckily we met the eldest son of Tita Milagros, Willian. Seated: Joche, Jayne, Diday, Sheila and Lot-Lot. Standing: Neng Joy, the son of the late primo Melchor Junior Rojo with his son, Dr. Jin, Jed, Tito Maximo Junior Locsin Siscar and Primo William Rojo. The place is the Rojo Compound where five houses are located, that of their parents and their siblings. Lately I found out that the grandmother of the Rojo's, Lola Tale was a Buyco from Anilao.

A VISIT TO MOLO, ILOILO CITY AT THE LOCSIN ANCESTRAL HOUSE
LOCATED AT SAN PEDRO STREET

After seeing cousins in Manduriao, we proceeded to Molo, Iloilo City, to the ancestral house of the Locsin Clan. This is the place where the old house of Lola Teresa Piccio Locsin stood once upon a time. In fact the old wooded posts made of Molave are still there. This house is standing because of the old original Molave posts which are still functional. Formerly, the house sports large planks of wood for its walls. Those were replaced with the current wood. This is also the place where Lola Teresa Locsin grew up. I am not sure if she was also born here. This place is located at San Pedro Street, Molo, Iloilo City, right at the back of the famed Molo Church.

This is now the present amenities inside the old house as seen inside. Notice the original old post at the back of Lot-Lot (dressed in red). It is a round post, trimmed by a sharp bolo. Seated: Joche, Sheila, Lot-Lot and Diday.

This is the original wooden post of the house of my Great Grandfather Francisco Baylon Locsin. This hardwood was put up as the main wooden posts of the house back in the 1800s. The wood is Molave. Molave is the hardest hardwood in the Philippines.

This is one of the nine major posts of the original old house of Lola Teresa Piccio Locsin.

This is another original old wooden post of the house of Lola Teresa Piccio Locsin. Notice the square concrete at the foot of the wooden posts that holds the post. It has remained as it is since it was erected in the 1800s. It has never been eaten by termites. The teeth of the termites will not work on Molave.

Another posts that has stood the test of time. It has remained unmoved for the past 208 years.

This is the same old wooden stairway railings, with simple carvings. Like the posts, it has also stood the test of time.

From here, the group left for the cemetery of Molo to get some pictures of the tombs of Lola Teresa Locsin, Joey Villar, Tito Francing Locsin Siscar. However when we arrived at the gate of the cemetery it was already locked. It was thirty minutes passed five in the afternoon. And the caretaker locks the entrance at 5P.M. We have to back off and proceed back to Pavia. Of course we dropped at Shoe Mart Iloilo to buy mattresses for Mommy's bed and had batchoy at Ted's.
